Annual Backflow Testing and Municipal Report Support

Scheduled, documented backflow prevention testing with clean report packages and a next-year reminder — so your municipal deadline never sneaks up on you.

What backflow testing is

A backflow prevention assembly protects the drinking-water supply by stopping water from flowing backward out of a building's plumbing system and into the municipal supply. Backflow testing checks whether that assembly is operating as required under the applicable municipal program: a certified tester connects a calibrated test kit, records readings from the device, and documents a pass or fail result along with the device details the municipality needs.

Many municipal programs require testing every year, and most send compliance letters with firm due dates. SOLARNA handles the testing, the documentation, and the report package — and sets up your reminder for next year.

Who typically needs testing

  • Commercial buildings
  • Industrial facilities
  • Multi-residential properties
  • Fire protection systems
  • Irrigation systems
  • Restaurants and commercial kitchens
  • Schools and institutional buildings
  • Facilities with boilers, chemical feeds, process water, lab equipment, or production lines

What to send before requesting a quote

The more of this you can share up front, the faster we can confirm scope and pricing:

  • Municipal compliance letter
  • Prior test report
  • Device location if known
  • Site contact
  • Access instructions
  • Tenant or shutdown notice requirements
  • Preferred testing window
  • Sensitive operations or water-interruption constraints

What happens during a test

  1. Confirm site contact and access.

  2. Identify the device and document model, serial number, size, and location.

  3. Confirm water-interruption requirements.

  4. Test using a calibrated test kit and applicable program requirements.

  5. Record readings and result.

  6. Tag and document the device where applicable.

  7. Submit or support municipal reporting as required.

  8. Create next-year reminder.

If the device passes

We complete the test record, tag the device where applicable, organize the report package, submit or support municipal reporting as required, and add your property to next year's renewal calendar. You get clean documentation for your building file — nothing left in someone's inbox.

If the device fails

Failed-device workflow

If a device fails, SOLARNA documents the result, notifies the client, follows the applicable reporting workflow, routes repair, rebuild, replacement, or installation work to licensed plumbers or licensed trades where required, and performs compliant retesting where authorized.

See Failed Device Help for the full workflow.

Report packages and renewal reminders

Every test ends with an organized report package: device details, readings, pass/fail status, photos where taken, and the municipal submission status. Before your next due date, we send a renewal reminder so testing gets booked ahead of the deadline — not after a warning letter.

Scope note

Repairs, replacements, rebuilds, installations, and regulated plumbing work are performed by licensed plumbers or licensed trades where required.
