Failed-device workflow
Failed Backflow Test? We Help You Get Back to Compliance.
A failed test starts a clock with your municipality. SOLARNA documents the failure, keeps the reporting workflow on track, routes correction to licensed trades where required, and retests where authorized — so the loop actually gets closed.
What a failed device means
A fail result means the assembly did not hold the readings the test procedure requires — a check valve, relief valve, or air gap isn't doing its job. It does not automatically mean contamination occurred, but it does mean the protection the municipality expects at that connection isn't currently verified, and most programs require documented correction and a passing retest.
Why failures must be documented
Municipal programs generally require failed results to be reported, not quietly fixed. Clean documentation — readings, device details, dates, correction records, and the passing retest — is what closes the file with the municipality and protects the owner if questions come up later.

Who does what
What SOLARNA does
- Documents the failure with readings, photos, and device details
- Notifies you promptly with plain-English next steps
- Follows the applicable municipal reporting workflow
- Routes correction work to licensed plumbers or licensed trades where required
- Retests after correction where authorized
- Closes the file and sets the next renewal reminder
What licensed trades do
- Internal repair and rebuild of assemblies
- Device replacement and installation
- Relocation and pipe modifications
- Any regulated plumbing work required by the correction
Scope boundary
SOLARNA does not self-perform internal repair, rebuild, installation, replacement, relocation, pipe cutting, or regulated plumbing work unless that work is performed by a properly licensed trade under the appropriate scope. Failed-device correction is routed to licensed plumbers or licensed trades where required.
Retesting and closeout
Once the licensed trade completes the correction, SOLARNA retests the device where authorized, documents the passing result, completes the municipal reporting workflow, and closes the file with a next-year reminder in place. You get one organized record of the failure, the correction, and the retest — not three disconnected paper trails.
